Kristin Chenoweth Still Recovering From Injury on the Set

Kristin Chenoweth was cast late in June, 2012 as a political reporter with a recurring role in the upcoming Season 4 of the CBS TV series, “The Good Wife.” The actress had no idea of just how hazardous the role would turn out to be.

On Wednesday afternoon, July 11, 2012, while filming a scene for the show on Kent Avenue in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, New York, Kristin Chenoweth was hit by a piece of scaffolding that fell on her, causing her head to hit the concrete ground. She was transported to Bellevue hospital for treatment.

In a statement that was issued by CBS Television Studios late Wednesday night, July 11, CBS said, “This afternoon, while filming a scene for “The Good Wife” in Brooklyn, a gust of wind blew a lighting silk out of place striking actress Kristin Chenoweth. She received treatment on the scene by the show’s medic until a New York Fire Department emergency medical team arrived and transported her to the hospital. All of us at the studio and the show are thinking about Kristin and wishing her a speedy recovery.”

Talking about the accident

On Friday, September 7, 2012, Kristin Chenoweth maintained a smile and a light-hearted tone as she talked about the accident and her injuries with Kelly Ripa and co-host Michael Strahan on “Live! With Kelley and Michael.” However, it did not make the accident sound any less frightening.

Previously, Kristin Chenoweth had said that she had received a serious head injury from the accident. However, she has now revealed that she got a five-and-a-half-inch skull fracture from the accident.

In describing the accident to Kelly and Michael, Chenoweth said, “Basically, a big lighting thing … fell and hit me … knocked me in the face and then slammed me down to the ground. We were shooting outside for ‘The Good Wife’ and the back of my head got hit on a curb. So I was out cold.”

Chenoweth added that there was one good thing about the accident. It happened so fast that she did not realize what had happened.

Issue ridden

In listing her injuries from the accident, Chenoweth said she has, “a skull fracture, and a rib issue and a neck issue and a hip issue.” However, she added with a laugh, “I’m just issue ridden! But I’m getting better and I wear a neck brace on and off. But this {the skull fracture} is healing.”

Chenoweth went on to tell Kelly and Michael, “I just feel so blessed and lucky and grateful, because it could’ve been a lot worse. For those people who sent me prayers and well-wishes, I want everyone to know that I could really feel that. I could feel it.”

Because of the accident, Chenoweth has had to leave “The Good Wife” until she can recover from her injuries. The accident has caused problems with her speech and her ability to multi-task. But she said, “That’s getting better.” She also added that even though she is still recuperating from her injuries, she is “doing so much better than I was.”
